Today I get it in the mail.


Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen "75"

Early S&L IMO.


Well, to be correct it has a "25" cyphre, but it's incorrect. That type of wreath was made for 75's and 100's ones.

Why someone put there 25 - I don't know...



Also rear is quite dillapilated, but VERY interesting IMO. It has cuted pin and the catch. Someone was trying to remake it for a screw clasp, but the screw was glued and one day it have fall away.

I saw that on e-bay Germany, a nice piece for sure and cheap ....sadly the damage put me off though........

It nice piece, and it has had some interesting adaptions made to it, it is a shame the replaced hardware has fallen off, the we could have seen just how the vet had it and wore it!
Its not the first time we have seen numbered GAB's and PAB's with the wrong number on the wrong design, maybe they just were all out of the correct parts one day, and made a batch with the parts they had???
Lovely quality, and surely vet owned!!

Good looking piece. Like Steve, I saw this but passed due to the missing pin. It looks like the eagle fits perfectly within the wreath. Do you think the leftover pin assembly would be for a thin pin? If so, that would make it a wonderful piece. By the way, I'm sure you meant "25".

Very interesting piece and a shame regarding the modification with the number. I agree it would have been interesting to see the reverse with the modified hardware. Attaching an illustration to show the different wreath styles to help complete the educational value of the thread.

Personally I do not regret that the pin was removed. This self-make remake makes this badge very tastefull for me

These ones are always harder to judge, especially when the pin and catch are removed.
Ebay is "full" of later ones that look very good but have slight differences to S&L pieces. Yours is IMO a good S&L, that´s for sure Color of the wreath and the reverse of the eagle and the whole quality are different to these fakes.

Very early ones have the area between eagle body and wings cut out. Yours not but that is not a sign for a later one, i think on early ones ( early to mid 60s) they still not cut out that area.

Nice piece, only a 75 would fit better than a 25

NICE and interesting. I wonder if it's worth a restoration. If you knew the pin type you could buy a nice cheap copy badge and carry out a restoration. It's all postwar so would simply become a post war with replaced pin set up.

to be honest I don't think that the restoration of the pin system would be worth of it.
The vet wants it to be a screw, so let it be as it is.


But as for the number... I'm thinking about to put there modern "75" indeed.
Anyway I'm not 100% sure about it yet...
What is more important: 1) historical right, 2) makers right, 3) vets right, 4) owners right, 5) collectors right.... I think that any of us would have different view in that case. Personally I haven't got any one straight view about it
