Souval Spanish Cross in Gold with Diamonds......

Gents, this morning the postman delivered this.....a post war made Souval Spanish Cross in Gold with diamonds bought from e-stand a few days ago, thanks Patrick !...........marked L/58 as Souval did with a few (not all) of his post war made pieces, once the scorn of TR collectors these pieces are now collected in their own right, and as I have an interest in both the Spanish Civil War and veterans replacement pieces (Spanish and German) this was for me, as close to the genuine article I am likely to get, as like RK's, a genuine one is sadly out of reach financially ......would I be right in thinking this one was probably made early to mid 1960's as it incorporates St u L rear hardware, as stated here several times Souval is known for sourcing parts from St u L later in his timeframe.
It would appear this version has a screw attached centre plate, were some versions "glued on" ......I have read that the diamonds are actually white sapphire's, jeweller applied. I am unsure about the huge "800" marking, poetic licence on Souval's part or Silver ? The award has a worn look about it.....do you not think ?
This award in its original presentation box, whose inlay is convexed to accommodate the awards vaulted construction.
    Prost ! Steve.

            Hello Steve,

I'm glad that this outstanding piece have found a good home
I would buy this gem for myself, just if it was cheaper

Anyway it looks great, but I have no idea about the period (60-70's IMO), other guys will give you a concrete answer for that question.

What about 800 mark.... that confused me too. That piece is not made of silver...

Steve I was wondering if you'd bought this. Your photos bring it to life here. A big congrats.

You can say what you want about these postwar Souval pieces, but they are usually quite beautiful and feature a high quality.

                Very nice piece...

You beat me to this one Steve. I debated too long and lost out. It looks like a nice piece. You are just on a roll with all your purchases. You need to open up another room.

                  Regards,
                  Rudy
