Poll Over...Next Step????

Hi Guys!!!
Well the poll is now closed, and an overwhelming majority of you voted in favour of the small change!
If it had been anywhere near close, I would have left things as they are, but with over 75% in favour, I think its only proper that I take action on this!
Let me say right away, I have no say in wether there will be changes made, I can only contact the powers that be, and let them know of the poll and its result, if a change is to be made, the power ultimately lies with them!!
Obviously, we are the 57 section, and the main title of the section, and its main focus will remain as it is now...
"1957 Medals, Orders and Decorations"
Its the secondary heading that we can change to include related postwar pieces, vets pieces, etc.
So we need some suggestions for the secondary title!!!!!!!!!!!!
The floor is yours guys, lets hear your suggestions please!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Nigel,

I am glad you are taking action based upon the poll result and the comments of the active members of this section. I would scrap the current secondary title. In it's place I would state:

"1957 Ordensgesetz Medal Law decorations".

In addition, I would add the additional statement:


"Post May 1945 German and Austrian manufactured decorations to include military decorations originally designed and awarded during the Imperial, Weimar, and TR eras "periods" of Germany".

Not sure how to handle any Bundeswehr medals which may appear on medal bars along with earlier era pieces?


I think this would eliminate anything not manufactured in Germany/Austria, obviously nothing manufactured in China/Pakistan to be included! Also, this would eliminate any awards not produced after May 1945. The additional descriptive statement would allow the inclusion of Oaks, PLM, Imperial EK, Souval Produced RK, etc.

Just my quick suggestion, and I know the wording will need to be adjusted. I probably left out something as well.

Thank you Steve! And Skyhawk does have a point. Maybe we should make it:
For changed form decorations without swastika and other related post 1945 German and Austrian produced decorations.

That way we can keep out copies, reproductions, toys, filler, and other Pakistani/ Chinese excrement.

Hi All,

I am definitely for keeping it simple. However, for instance, I think it is very important to state countries of acceptable manufacture as the Ordensgesetz pretty much makes it wide open. This is our chance to end the battle of semantics. If the new wording is not very SPECIFIC, there may be those who will post to "mock" the changes in wording.

Good thoughts guys!
I think we have to try and keep it fairly short and snappy!!
Hopefully the main title will cover the actual 57ers, so its just a matter of describing, in as few words as possible, what else is acceptable???
I agree that "related pieces" is a good term we could use, as it gives some leeway, but at the same time rules out any fakes etc. which are in no way related to genuine 57ers??
Lets see what some of the other guys think, theres no time limit on this, we can take our time and get it right!!!

Nigel,

since the poll showed a majority in favor for the addition of other postwar made medals and awards, why not change the sections main title to:
"1957 & other Postwar Orders and Decorations"
This seems to be the fairest way to include all pieces.
Then in the secondary heading include things like vet related pieces etc. and it's limitations to original manufacturers of the time. (i.e. S&L, Souval, Deumer,etc)
That at least is the way I would suggest to do it.

Hi Alex, I hear you, but the poll was only ever going to be for the secondary title, I think we must remain above all the 57 section, but with a side serving of other tasty postwar morsels?
So if we can include what you want, but in the secondary title, then that's great!!

Well guys .... the 57 Gesetz- Regulations as far as I recall the wording states guidelines for wearers and making of previous existing = war time awards - continued manufacturing cannot have a Swastika in them . So instead of " Germany- Austria " to use -"war time manufacturers" : which also eliminates any other countries .
As to another thread in this section - S&L is - as far I know - the only remaining war time manufacturer that is still making 57 awards .
Lets say maybe :

" 1957 Law decorations by war time manufacturers: "
