Another Period Book

I found this interesting book "Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen" by Geeb & Kirchner, published in 1958.
While not as lavish as Krantz's book of the same year, it shows some different decorations not pictured in Krantz, in a mix of artists impressions and actual photo's, interestingly, while Krantz's book seems to show all S&L pieces, this book also has some Deumers!
The decorations are divided into three main sections......
Imperial & Weimar (50's replacement's)
Third Reich (changed form and unchanged)
Postwar BRD

Interesting to see the "non 57er" DRK awards and the Pour le Merite in that one.

The PLM is for sure a S&L one ........ great evidence that they made these still in the 50s ..... maybe the ribbon loop is an indicator for the 50s period here ?

Loop ring is like yours and Steve´s ..... both PLM´s have the flaw and so we could eventually date all pieces with flaw for sure latest end 50s ?

What a cool book! Sure would like to have a copy of this one or Krantz's. I would guess they a very hard to find but I have never looked.

I was checking for die flaws on the OLS!

Note that most of what appear to be drawings are photo-lithographs. For the purposes of printing the images, they were reduced to components of actual photographs that could be etched to the printing plates. Some loss of detail makes them look drawing-like, but a substantial amount of the character of the original are preserved. Great book and fascinating to see the St u L PlM (note the legs freed from the body).
