today I could add these great looking and rare badge to my collection.

Hi Patrick!!
That's a super quality and very early S&L APB, I really like it!!
The lighting really catches the crisp details on this badge, and of course, these are very scarce, especially in early form like yours!!
When it comes to war and qualification badges, I think that the bronze finish used by S&L on its early pieces, is superb!!!

Patrick, a nice early example , Nigel said it all ! A lovely flat quality back, not like the mid and late production versions where it seems St u L "scooped" out some of the metal during production, (to save money ?) leaving a very uneven surface ! here is my late example for quality comparison....no where as good as your Patrick !

An amazing badge, I used to own one ....

If I remember correctly, quite a large and also very heavy badge = QUALITY !
