    Souval/St u L EK I.............

Gents, as Souvals are a current topic of discussion I show my new addition to my meagre Souval blank core collection, I now have three !
This example from Rudiger, is a 1960's version of Rudolf's Iron Cross first class sporting St u L hardware and frame !
As Nigel has informed us in his extensive and informative threads, Souval obtained and had an arrangement with St u L for supply of parts for their EK I & II's in the later part of production.
As can be seen on the side by side image comparisons, all the Souval traits have gone .....however on this example Souval have mm the pin L/58..........twice !
They now sport a magnetic core and are soldered together, early examples being glued !
    Prost ! Steve.

They are great looking crosses. I'm glad the 57er redesign didn't follow this, but it still fits within the family with the return to the 1813 blank core look.

                Hi Steve!!
                All great Souval's!!
I am glad you got the later version with Souval frame, from what I've seen that is the rarest variant, in both 1st and 2nd class form!!
These blank core EK's are among my favourite postwar EK's, as already mentioned, the earliest examples actually pre-date the 57ers, they are full of unique characteristics!!!

Nice grouping, Steve. You miss only trifold on EK2.
