Ok, so 50/50 on the OLS, Oaks real, case not real.

Next up for your perusal and opinions is an RK.

Its beading is pretty flawed and it hasn't been cleaned, no silver stamp on the rear, 1st pattern core, magnetic.

Could this be an early 1st stamping? or is it a late semi-modern stamping? I know they changed dies along the way as well as cores

Very early 1st pattern, IMO this type, with the loop eye unfinished, is the earliest variant, maybe others disagree on that, but I think we'll all agree this is a fine example!
Would it be possible to see a good closeup of the OLS??

Early St&L 57er KC, has the flawed "B" frame and 1st pattern ( magnetic ) core.
Looks like the OLS received a replacement loop, but the handy-work is not that great.

Overall, very nice KC, would be happy to have in my own collection !

I think they are good too, and quite early, its hard to see all the flaws because of the flash, but the cutouts around the leaf edges is very good, and they could well be from the same date as the RK!
Shame about the repair and the heavy handed use of solder, but still a nice set overall I think!!

A wonderful set with the OLS

Both, RK and OLS seems to have been married a long time ago. same patina and the repair of the OLS could be of excessive wear.

I am wondering if the soldering job was done to change out the suspension ring so that the cross hangs lower. It seems as if war time OLS hang low enough so that the swords do not brush up against the cross. 57er OLS have the cross hanging higher. So high that the cross brushes up against the swords thus causing wear and tear on the cross.
