57 Riders Badges on estand

But for your info Andrei, it is not a "57er" medal, because there was no forbitten symbol on it.

I would say that badges with the typical "57er" pin set up, plus the "R" are to be considered as post war replacements.

The similar badges without the "R" are actual post war, BRD awarded pieces. The organisation or at least the successor to the TR organisation continued to award such badges.

I belive Uwe (Speedytop) would be the right man to elaborate these matters.

Both are originals..........The Reiter-Abzeichen (Horse riders badge)..........introduced in 1930 and still issued today by the German Equestrian Association. Prior to 1950, the badge incorporated a "R" on the bottom of the wreath, the "R" stood for "Reichsverband", after 1945 there was no Reich, so no need for the "R" but it was finally dropped in 1950 ! Known makers "Steinhauer und Lueck" the other known maker was "Lauer".

Hi,

the specialist for riders badges is naxos.

The new award documents past 1945, first in 1950, don't show the "R".

But, like the normal sports badges, the old left over badges with the "R" had been handed out, up to 1959/1960(!).

Why then new made badges with the "R"? Because some owners want it "as original" for their lost badges. And because you could ask higher prices for "originals" with the "R"?.

Post war made badges with the "R" are not originals, no matter how one calls them.
Post war made badges without the "R" are always originals. The difference is, as for the 1957 versions, the quality (is it like the "Muster"); but for the riders badges it must be an authorized maker.

This is my personal opinion.
