    More new fakes!!!!!!

Watch out for these RK to the KVK's which are starting to appear on E-bay etc.
Have'nt seen any closeups yet, but quality, detailing and finish are all good enough to fool some collectors, especially if the seller isn't claiming them to be early pieces!!
Wont be long before someone ages them, or pairs them up with better quality ribbon etc etc

Hi Nigel, I saw those as well. I probably would have gone for it a few years ago. They are starting to look a little better in quality.

Thanks again for bringing it up.

            Regards,
            Rudy

                Hi!!
Well, that's another fake, that's been around a little longer, thankfully, its poor detail and SHINEY finish, make it easier to spot!
The latest fakes are a bit more convincing, and they are getting better all the time!!!!

And of course, there also has to be the "without swords" version.......

Thanks for the vigilant eye. I'll now keep my eyes peeled and on the lookout for these on US sites and shows.

The same E-bay seller who is listing the RK to the KVK's that started this thread, has just listed several more pieces, including this Ost medal........
                        $T2eC16VHJHwFG0uFUuFUBR0IF7ND5Q~~60_12.jpg

Again, for me, this is a new fake, and again based on the S&L piece, details appear the same, the finish is the give away, as neither the blue/grey centre, or the silvering on the helmet and rim are correct, but if it was aged etc. very dangerous!! Without the piece in hand, I don't know if its cast or die struck??
But, the details appear quite crisp, no sign of casting bubbles etc. so it could be another example of a new fake being made from S&L dies????

I spotted this one a while back on a UK dealers website and wasn't sure if it was a late production piece or a fake. He also listed one with swords which has sold.

                          http://www.smimilitaria.com/viewphot...h=50143&phqu=2

He also lists other bad 57ers on his website.

                            Hi Ray!
Its getting hard to tell "genuine" but late pieces from recent out and out fakes!!
Looking at the KVK RK you posted the link to, it looks like it may having pock marks from casting, most noticeable around the date, where the surrounding area should be flat and smooth? So maybe this one is a casting??
But its seems that more and more fakes are appearing, and what we once looked at and thought "ok, but late" is now becoming more likely to just be one of these new generation of fakes??

Yep, it's a getting to be a bit of a 'minefield' out there. I love his '57 U Boat badge! What a dazzler!
