Vets wearing their 57ers!!!

The Bundeswehr got founded in 1955.. the 57 rule in 1957. Could be the reason?

I'm not certain that could be the reason, Mike. His Close Combat Clasp is a 57er -- no eagle at the top; the Wound Badge does not appear to have the forbidden symbol, so most likely a 57er; and I can't tell about the EKI, but it doesn't look like it has the swastika.

That's what I thought too which is why I asked the question. The rest look to be as they should be. Perhaps the IAB has been denazified and we just can't tell from the photos. In this case the swaz being obscured rather than removed.

Strange in the fact that he wears his awards on a shirt just in the manner if in WW2. To bad we can't get a better shot of the IAB. It may be altered so the Swas is not against the regs ???

You could be right, my friend. The IAB doesn't look '57, and the EKI has a rare shape on the center.

We should respect them, and it is unfair imo.

Wikipedia: "Friedrich-August Meyer's Luftwaffenpersonalamt-Verleihungsvorschlag (LPA-VV—Air Force Staff Office Nomination Recommendation) Nr. 1493 was forwarded to the adjutancy of Hermann Göring on 3 March 1945. The nomination was never finalized and was left unfinished by the end of the war. A radio message was sent by the chief of the LPA on 12 May 1945 stating that Meyer, effective as of today, has been awarded the Knight's Cross and therefore an unlawful presentation. The presentation date 9 May 1945 was assigned by Walther-Peer Fellgiebel. "

I would say, thats war history.

Arthur, if you read my previous post here on WAF you'll see that I mean no bad intentions or disrespect to any veteran.
