    Hi Guys!!
Thanks again for all your comments!!
I have to say, that when i decided to repair this KVK, i never thought for a second that it would be seen as anything other than me, just trying to make a medal look better in my own eyes!!
I am sorry that some of you do not like repairs at all, thats no problem, i have after all, only put the original pin back on, and a catch as close as i can find, its not as if i have put on some fantasy hardware?? to me, its a bit like having an RK with no suspension loop, if i had no original to replace it with, i would buy one of those repro's off Ebay, its just to finish the piece off, and make it look more attractive, well, to me anyway!!
I dont mind anyones opinions on my pieces, the good and the bad, but what i would ask, is that if anyone has any more comments, not on this piece, but on repairs in general, would they please start a new thread on that subject, i would suggest the Collectors Community Forum? As i think, that is a seperate subject and is not really suited to the 57 section as a whole, and this KVK thread in particular!!!
Thank You, now back to work...............

Heres a couple of pics, comparing my new, repaired, Deumer KVK1, with my other, vaulted version.
The vaulted version has the different pin style, and the hinge is stood up, not laid down, the pebbling and other details appear to match?

              Thanks Rudy!!
I dont mind having a go at repairing one of my own pieces, but i would'nt like to risk it on anyones elses.......just in case it goes wrong!!!!!
I'd feel awful if i ruined a nice piece.............
A decent jeweller should be able to do the repair for you???

i can only remember seeing one myself, all KVK's "without swords" seem to be much rarer than the "with swords" type, wether they are 1st or 2nd class, and whichever maker!

i think the issued numbers of ww2 probably show why there very hard to find in 57er form bit of a difference
                    95000 kvk 1st wo swords
                    130000 kvk 1st w swords
compared to ek 1st 350000 and 2600000 for 2nd class

                    best regards

Actually, I'm quite impressed with the skill shown by Nigel and must agree that - in repairing the badge to its original state - it has been taken to another level.

I stand corrected on my earlier opinion ......
