Hi Rudy, Nigel's comments have summed it up pretty well .. this picture illustrates the "gap" nearby the inner frame.

Well, if you're not an expert on 57re RK's, I don't know who is!

This thread is a fantastic learning tool Mathijs. Well thought out, detailed in every important aspect and full of excellent information.

On behalf of all the guys here, THANKS Mathijs for taking the time and putting the effort into making this the best reference thread to date!

Adding two more variants again ...

            St&L 3-piece made / magnetic core / 1st pattern core / "B" frame.

Variant here is the "B" frame with partially drilled out loop eye - bottom marked "800"

And whilst I'm adding, I forgot to mention two other minor flaws which can be found on the "B" frame.

The so called "12 o'clock cut" flaw can be found on both the "B" frame and some of the "C" frame.
( not sure if all "B" frames have this flaw, all my examples did have it ).

The so called " Square Punch " flaw can be found on the loop eye.
( not sure if all "B" frames have this flaw, all my examples did NOT have it ).

Big thanks for both Gentry who found these flaws and Luud for pointing them out to me .

And while I'm posting, my attention was turned to yet another flaw on the "B" frame ( thanks, Luud ).

The so called " split beading " flaw can be found on the bottom ( 6 o'clock ) arm.

Just noticed on my RK and in this thread the first pattern core shows a flaw on the '1' (sometimes it runs across the '8' as well) in the reverse date. Can best be seen in post 4 and 21......

                            Regards,
                            Nick
