Notice the used back die without scratches and with the removed huge "O".
For more information about the oaks, I can advice to read a recent article written by Gentry about S&L oaks.

And the last picture of the ribbon wich is IMO his wartime ribbon that he used for his 1957 KC.

That was all, I hope you like it as I do

                            Hi Luud!
We were expecting something special for your 2000th post.......well, you have'nt disapointed us!!!
What a group to a very well known vet!! I have read about Hoffmann's D-day exploits before, and theres no doubt he was a very brave man who really earned his RK!!!
Theres so many great pieces here, i am going to have to keep coming back to this thread and adding more each time!!
For now, i'll just say there are some wonderful pieces in the group, many very early ones too, the finish on the RK, and both EK's is right up there with the best!!!
The BVK is a nice example by S&L, with interesting hardware! Also nice to see all the original cases, and then theres the medalbar.......Ohhhhh too much!!!!
                            I'll get back to you!!!!!!!!
Thanks for showing Luud, a great piece of history!!!

                              Hi Luud,

To face the odds that he did was indeed very crazy and/or very brave. I do believe both is needed. Indeed a man that deserved his awards. Thanks for that story. You have a fantastic group from a spectacular individual. What a 2,000th post.
                              Regards
                              Rudy
