    OdK mitgliedskarte

Got the cross + pin + card as part of a group to a Pilot / Beobacter in Aufklärungsgruppe 122. Haven't seen an OdK membershipcard before. I know the organisation merged with OdR.

Also my first 1957 DKiG. I can see why they are so addicting!

Thanks very much for sharing your membership card, cross and mini! Interesting to see the dates on the card! He lived a long life apparently!

Is the DK the only 57er piece from the group?
Like Nigel, I'd love to see some detailed shots of the DK! It appears to be an early and possibly rare cross, but better photos are needed to confirm.

I hope you'll come back to us with more pics! You already have something special, but we may be able to add to your joy depending on what the pics show us. Pics of the mini would also be of great interest.

They are indeed quite addictive as the boys here will testify!

      Thanks again!

Thanks for the comments, really appreciate it! The DKiG is the only 57er in the group. His awards: http://www.ww2awards.com/person/29707

Some better pics of the cross, please advice if you need other details.

That's a very nice and interesting group to a brave man! Congrats on adding it to your collecK/DK tion!

The cross is not quite what I had hoped to see. From the small pic the wreath looked like it might be a more rare version, but the new pics you provided show a little later piece. You a have a very collectible cross in that its early enough to have an enamel, red ring, a sign of an earlier made piece. I'm going to ask our resident RK/DK expert Mathijs to weigh in on maker and period to help you know exactly what you have.

Thanks again for sharing your treasure with us!

Well, although I have seen my share of OdR membership cards, its the first OdK one I come across.
As I have no other to compare with, seeing the estate it came from it has to be the real deal.

Your DKiG puzzles me somewhat .... The first shot made it seem to be Deschler made.
But now looking at it closer ... the backside hardware makes me say St&L mid-production.
But the gold wreath is inconsistent with St&L production and could be more attributed to Deschler.
Difficult one as it shows a bit of both worlds .... any chance you show a side shot of the hinge and also the catch ?

Looking at the hardware, i'd think its an S&L piece, its their round headed hingepin, their thick catch and 2nd style tapering pin!
Deschler used a dome headed hingepin too, but it doesnt look like this one, and i dont think they ever used a thick flatwire catch?
Like Mathijs, i'd like to see a side view of the hingeblock to see if it is open or solid? At the moment, i'd think it was mid to late 1960's??

Okay, I'm not crazy them afterall! It was the Deschler style wreath that I noticed in the first pic posted that grabbed my attention. The hardware appeared to me also to be S&L. I love it when two worlds collide!

Precisely why we call in the experts. Time to learn fellas!

Something like this? Taking pics isn't what I'm best at. Included a shot of most of the group.

                    Thanks for the extra pics!!
The open hingeblock should date it to at least the late 60's, a great group too!!!
Is it known if the vet bought all his awards again in the 57 form?? If he did, i wonder who has the rest??

Thanks for the further pics and again, congrats on an awesome group!

I'm attaching a rather crude comparison of the date box from your cross and the date box from a "Deschler" DKiG. While there are some similarities, your wreath is IMO NOT a match to known Deschler wreaths.

So, that leads us back to the drawing board. Later S&L style hardware, but a wreath not typically associated with S&L leaves some head scratching going on.

Let's keep this on a back burner and see if more evidence comes to light.

Thanks again for sharing your group!
