    Kriegsmarine party :-))

Sorry for copying my words from the other forum, still too lazy to write that all new
But i am sure you will accept my sorry.......

at first i once more have to thank Mathijs. He secured these top pieces and offered them to me. Of course i accepted in seconds. Many many thanks, buddy

Well, what did i get here?

    - very nice and very early minesweeper by S&L, by now my 3rd one but this beauty has the blue waves and so it was missing in my collection

    - Woohoo, finally a Deumer u-boat for me. With that one my u-boat section is complete !!
Very nice looking beauty, as always with golden pieces hard to capture on pics. Highlights and boat are polished. All in all a very well done piece Zunge raus

    -
    Deumer DESTROYER
The first time i ever saw this one. It´s different in quality to the Deumer pieces we used to know. When you say the Deumer minesweeper has less quality than S&L then look at this destroyer.
Only basically cut-out, no polished highlights and boat and water complete silvered 6
BUT....the golden colour is identical with the wartime ones and the whole look is more wartime than 57er and so i love it very much. Together with my Deumer CAB and minesweeper i can say that all these ones have more the wartime look than very early S&L who have more bling bling Augenzwinkern

I compered the destroyer with a wartime one from a member here ( i asked for permission and he agreed, MANY THANKS, Alex ) and IMO there are similarities like the outer and inner lines, destroyer design and the wreath. The unusual lines on the veins on the right lower wreath are maybe repairs? from the old die, who knows.....in hand they are not really to see.

Enough spoken and written...here are the pics, hope you enjoy them smile

        Wow, what a haul Rudiger!!!!
All great pieces, the minesweeper looks great!! The Deumer u-boat is a rare piece for sure, and i love the look of the Destroyer, has it got a slightly concave shape to it??? Great finish, it does remind me of wartime badges!!
Congrats on super additions to your fleet!!!!!!!!

          Thanks Nigel,

the destroyer has indeed a concave shape, looks great.
In the display you can easily discover the Deumers because of the golden colour what looks old .... only fantastic

            Ships AHOY!!!

And yes, I completely accept your sorry. Maybe someday, you'll write that same "sorry" there instead of here.

Some excellent pieces Rüdiger! Only a short time ago there no Deumer pieces in your harbor and NOW LOOK!!!

Truly, some awesome pieces to add to your already wonderful KM collection. I think some will have to head out to deep waters soon to make room for others to dock!

Interesting, the pin orientation on the U-boot. I suppose this way they could stock one type of hardware rather than getting into multiple types. It too reminds me of wartime setups.

I too thought the Destroyer looked a bit vaulted! That's a feature typically only associated with wartimers!!! Wow! Very nice!

Wow, what a haul of early KM badges.

The minesweeper has all what I would expext to see in a very early S&L.
              supurb quality

The Deumer U-boat is the 2nd I ever saw, a lovely rare badge.
Especially interesting for you because I know that you like to collect U-boat items the most.

The destroyer is the first Deumer for me.
Seems the badge came from the same die as the S&L's.
              Very interesting, Thanks for showing.
It looks like they didn't put much effort in finishing the badge.
Especially regarding the cutting of the badge.

If you have time, please make some pictures of the Deumers next to an early S&L.
I am interested to see if the finish of these Deumers are also very faint yellowish gold compared to the S&L that looks like real 24kt gold.

is it so important where i post first? I posted on both forums with a difference of about 2 minutes Hard work
I know about the competitions between the forums but don´t want to be part of it.
So next time i´ll post here first and 2 minutes later there........it´s not about the forum....it´s about the guys who are in there. And on both forums are the Rat pack and a few other respected members i´d like to show....here and there

Especially interesting for you because I know that you like to collect U-boat items the most.
So true, Luud Now i have finished my u-boat section with both u-boats, 4 u-boat clasps (S&L) and some minis and a wartime u-boat. As there´s no seen u-boat clasp from Deumer till now i am really happy to close the u-boat display. Only rare ribbon bars will be added (if i may found more )

If you have time, please make some pictures of the Deumers next to an early S&L.
I am interested to see if the finish of these Deumers are also very faint yellowish gold compared to the S&L that looks like real 24kt gold.
Will do that tomorrow. The Deumer paint is really not so bright as S&L´s colour...looks really more wartime. IMO good to see on the Deumer CAB
And it seems that i was wrong with the Deumer wartime design, indeed it looks like a basically design by S&L

Of course not my friend! It was my little joke that was misunderstood! You know me after all this time.

The "competition" is silly IMO! It goes without saying, but it's a small world and it's best we get along for the sake of the hobby and the each other!

I look forward to seeing your Deumer/S&L side by side pics. I've been partial to Deumer badges all along, but S&L's are strong in their own right and have their own beauty. Both are to be appreciated.

                      Very good deal

                      BTW:
The Deumer finish compares indeed well with a wartime badge if you compare to a sinke late war badge where the colours are fainted.
But S&L also compares well with wartime badges if you compare to an early buntmetal (fireguilted) badge that don't get fainted like the sinkers.

                      That is personal taste.
Besides a few LW badges, I will take any S&L above a Deumer!
I find the earliest S&L's superiour in quality and design compared to a Deumer.
Only as I want a variant, I will prefer a Deumer because they (mostly) are harder to find.

In rudigers case, he just needs all makers, so I know he would prefer a Deumer above an easier to find S&L.

But this piece matches the 15.-DM para from Mathijs in price range

Good to see them side by side to compare Rudiger, while the CAB,s are obviously very different, the Destroyers look the same, apart from the lack of cutouts on the Deumer. So did S&L and Deumer use the same basic die for their destroyer badges Rudiger?? If so, thats very interesting!!!

Very interesting indeed! So, perhaps one supplied the other for certain badges? Who supplied who is the next question.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as the old saying goes, but I certainly like the gold finish on the Deumer better. It's less bling and more old school in appearance. Mighty Mikey likey!

Some excellent badges Rüdiger! Your KM collection is second to none!
From an e-mail we shared, I know you have a nice tunic display too!
