    What do I really have?

Attached are two sets of photographs of two badges that are supposed to be 1957 awards. Olof and a couple of other folks on the forum have told me that they are not authentic 1957s. I have reviewed several of the threads here and tried to make sense out of the Ordensjournal, but to no avail.

The seller seems amenable to making things right, but I have to explain why these two pieces are not genuine 1957 awards. As best I can determine, it is because of the open hinges and wide catches and probably some other things as well. Correct? What other differences are there?

And if someone could direct me toward some photographs of an authentic 1957 GCig and PAB 25, I would appreciate it.

    Welcome to the 1957 subforum.

I'm only using my phone at the moment, but I see what appear to be products of S&L, probably made in the 1980's, maybe later.

They would not be considered collectible, by true 57er enthusiasts, but they appear to me to be from a recognized manufacturer of 1957 awards.

As far as photos of collectible pieces, search this forum for "DKiG" "PAB" etc. and you will find MANY examples from all eras of manufacture.

I hope that I've been of some help to you.

Both are late models based on the open hinge and wide catch. My guess would be 80s on the PAB and the DKiG is the latest type that they made. I agree that they are S&L.

The authenticity question is based on the likelyhood that a veteran would have owned these and also how close to the namesake of "57" the badge is issued.

      I hope that helps!
