Show me a 1957 Knight Cross, but not S&L

    Guys.
Be kind and show me 1957 Knight Crosses that are not prodused by S&L.
Any Otto Schickle from 1957 around ?

    Thanks.

Left is a Schickle 57 Knights Cross, right a Steinhauer. Notice the Schickle is also bigger.

Their factory was never bombed out so their tooling all survived the war. As far as I know they never made 1957 pattern awards, or restrikes on the original tooling.

Has anyone any ideas as to the extreme shortage of early 1957 RK's on the market?

I appreciate that they are gaining popularity (& have been for quite a while) however I can't think of one dealer on the web that would have an early one for sale at the moment.

Are there any figures available as to how many were produced by S&L, Schickle etc.

                      Peter

I can't imagine there was much of a demand for these back in the early days
of their manufacture. Except for veterans. There may have been some orders
placed for them by veterans organizations and such but I don't believe there
would have been much interest from collectors. I remember as far back as
twenty years or more, seeing a few of these for sale at military shows. They
were usually too expensive for the ordinary collector and as such, they usually
went unsold. $150. to $200 for a cased example was a mighty steep price
back then. I'm sure many were sold for much less than $100.

As to how many were actualy made? I'm sure that's anyones guess.
Not just because I own one, but like you, I have a keen interest in them
and would like to learn more about them.

I sure has a great interest in these fine awards. I have ordered another 1957 Knight Cross. That one will be an S&L as well. Looks like S&L was the most prodused one ? That K&Q from Gordon. W is an absolute darling. I hope i can get my hands on one of those.

                        Cheers.
