    New 4 Place Medalbar

Hi Guys, its been a good week for me, as i was also able to get this nice medalbar, although it does'nt have an EK (my favorite) on it, it has 3 medals that i did'nt have on any of my other bars!
The medals are KVK2 with swords/ Silesian Eagle/ Olympic decoration/ Red Cross award.
The quality of the bar is very good, each of the medals is sewn securely to the ribbons by thread around the jump rings, or, in the case of the eagle, around his beak!!!
The only down side to that is, i can't show the reverse's
They've also gone to the trouble of using different coloured threads, black for the KVK & Silesian Eagle, grey for the Olympic and white for the Red Cross!!
The Red Cross award is numbered 2642 on the edge of the 6 O'clock arm.
The KVK is a little puzzling, as it has lost its bronze colour, and looks very much like a wartime zinker!! But i can see enough of the reverse to see theres no swastika!!004.jpg

              Hi Nigel,

Let me be the first to congratulate you on winning this medal bar! I was tempted to try and get it myself but ended up buying something else.

The Silesian Eagle appears to be an original 1920's version.

There are not too many 57er medal bars with the Olympics Medal....i once owned one. Very uncommon in my opinion.

              Best regards
              Pierce

Once again, Well done Nigel. That KVK has to be a wartime version dosn't it?
Also, nice to see that postwar Red Cross decoration tacked on the end!

Cheers Ray, the KVK looks just like a later war version made of zinc, but theres no sign there was ever a swastika, i know some vets simply flipped their KVK2 on their medalbars, so the swastika was out of sight, but this looks like an S&L 57er (apart from the strange finish!!)

Just had a thought, that bar must represent what - about 40 years service?

Interesting point Ray, i had'nt even thought about it!!
The Silesian eagle was a Freikorps award was'nt it, 1919 i think, olympic medal 1936, war service with the KVK 39-45, red cross service, during the war? possibly after too???

Well, that Red Cross 2nd Class was awarded 1953 - 1990, and going by the issue number I guess sometime between 1955 - 60?
