    Cholm!!!

This one is from eBay. The seller wanted FAR too much for the piece and after some haggling and him reducing the price by over 35%, I got my first Cholm.

Not really FJ related, I know, but I love the design and the mostly the history of battle in which a man could earn this award. Cholm's are not frequently seen awards either.

You will see Cholm battle field photos with soldaten wearing FJ helmets, but they are actually glider pilots who flew men and material to the surrounded battle group. Once there, glider pilots quickly became infantry troops who fought and died along side thier Heeres bretheren.

Very nice Cholm Mike, as you say, one of the harder to find shields, especially early ones!!
A lot of the armschilds have good designs, but i personally like the design of the Cholm best out of all of them!!!
Great look and nice patina to this one, and dont worry about it not being FJ related!!
I'm buying things now that i would'nt have a year or two ago, i think to keep our collections interesting and exciting, its good to freshen them up now and again!!
Congrats on a great shield Mike!!!!!!

i remember that one and the price
Don´t mind about that it´s not FJ related...like Nigel said, there are for sure other wonderful pieces collectable that doesn´t fit in our field.

You did very well to grab that one....who knows how long it takes till the next one pops up

Thanks my friends! I agree with you both that this was a must grab item as they just don't pop up often and the seller was more than happy to deal! Keep that in mind concerning his other pieces.

Here's a side by side comp with a Narvik shield. These two appear to be from the same period and likely the same maker as several shared characteristics are seen.
