Please let me know your thoughts!!
After having a good look at this one, i cant come to any other conclusion than it being an original 57 Souval Wound Badge!! I think the info that Daniel was told may well be true....Souval perhaps bought dies, or raw unfinished badges from S & L, put their own hardware on (in this case) MM'd, painted & finished them, and sold them as their own???? -Nigel

Hmm, I can see the pics on both my HTC Touch Pro II phone and Internet Explorer 8. Keep digging Rudiger!

Interesting piece Nigel! Definitely not a sign of a former Swastika. It's interesting from paint to strike to hardware to maker mark! I've got to defer to those more knowledgable than I even with my glasses on! I've missed some obvious things lately due to not wearing them! I will not offer an opinion. I will say if it is an original piece it must be somewhat rare.

Looks like it might be zinc. Is that correct Nigel?

After reviewing the WB makers list on the WB forum, there is controversy over whether or not Souval made WB's pre-45. Most seem to believe they did not. I know 57er's tend to go by their own set of VERY loose rules that don't always relate or correspond to wartime production.

This one will spark some great discussion I think!

It's possible, but not sure on this one. Zinc is a pain in the butt to work with, and it would be surprising that any post-45 piece would be made with it. Just look at all the other '57 badges made by Assmann, Deumer, and S&L...none in zinc, at least that I'm aware of.
