    This weekend addition

It is weekend, so at last I have some spare time.

So I made some pictures of a chain that I just got it in because I traded it with my friend with some doubles I had.

Probably I am one of the few here on the Forum, but I really like ribbon bars, chains and (mini) medal bars. They show some real history and they tell you a story what they had been through.

Enough talking, I will let the pictures do the talking.
And if you try to read the chain , you can almost visualize what he has been trough.

What a wonderful beauty. This must have been a very brave man. Maybe you have the name of this german cross winner?

Absolutely great addition for your collection

Wow, great detail on these !!! On the GWB, would that be a makers mark on the back ? Looks like "D" ???

Good eyes, It is a "D".
The DKig on the same chain has a circle mark from S&L.
Also it is Interesting to see the solder on the back of the DK and glue on the front.

Thanks Rudiger, it is/was a brave man indeed.
I have most items named, sadly not with this one.
But I will ask if Mike can try to track it back to the previous owner.

That is the very nicest chain set I've ever laid eyes on! What a story! He personally killed FIVE tanks and won the GWB and DKiG in doing so?!? Brave seems like an understatement.

That is a very old and early chain as well. The patina is real and the detail on the individual mini's is just superb!

Luud, I will check with the previous owner to see if he has info on the recepient.

                        Really beautiful, Luud.

I've seen these chains for years now, but I admit I don't know how they're worn. The pins that are always at the end don't seem to be right for affixing in a buttonhole or lapel. Does anyone have photo of one of these in wear?

                        Excellent addition to your collection.

                        Trevor
                        Best regards,

I just had contact with a very good German friend, he seems to be the earliest owner till about 2 years ago before it came in collector hands.
It is a small world after all!

About a year ago the matching Feldspange that belonged to it was sold on a German Forum called SDA, he lost track of the buyer:
                              http://sammlergemeinschaft-deutscherauszeichnungen.org

If any of you members are the new owner or know the owner of the ribbon bar, Please contact me. Top dollar paid !!

                              Rudiger,
Ich weiß, dass Sie auf die SDA sehr aktiv sind, informieren Sie mich bitte, wann Sie den Feldspangen irgendwo sehen.
