    Hello,

My vote is that it is a 60-70's production piece no doubt as referenced by the hardware alone!

Very unique and a piece I would love to have in my collection!
    Happy Hunting!

Only third reich medals and badges are really 1957s pieces. There was no need to made imperial badges since 1957,because they had no swastika.
All 57s pieces were made because it was forbidden to wear decorations with a swastika. But to give the veterans a chance to wear their decorations, the Bundesregierung made the Ordensgesetz from 1957.
It´s difficult for me to explain the 1957 Ordensgesetz, so sorry if it´s hard to understand.

If this piece was made in the 60s, so it is a copy. Even if it looks very good.

Out of curiosity, was a WW1 veteran allowed to wear an EK1914 after 1957 or in the period 1945-57?

        cheers

If he earned it, a WWI vet could wear an EK1 from the day of the award ceremony til his death without interruption. The only time he could not also wear the EK2 would have been when he was in non-dress (combat) uniform, when he would have worn just the ribbon in the second buttonhole of the tunic. When in mufti, both of these decorations were mostly worn (if at all) as stickpins on the lapel.
          Best regards,
          Streptile
