    Here´s the pic i made for this thread. I´m not against Deschler or only pro Godet. I only want to understand WHY this shall be a Deschler
    Seems that this may be not so interesting here and i don´t want to bore you so this is my very last post in this thread. Now you all can make your own thoughts about the maker of my and Mike´s DK, if you want

      You KNOW this is interesting to me Rudiger! I too want to know the maker with as much certainty as we can have anyway.

      Thank you for posting these pics. I see similarities in each!

      The date box looks like it could go either way but appears to me to be more like the Godet. It's a bit hard to tell from the pics. The rivet type and general construction obviously favor Deschler. Catch plate resembles Godet, with the hinge and pin looking like neither and actually more like the EKI S&L/Souval which are being debated in another thread! In other words, I STILL DON'T KNOW!!! Ugh!!!

        Hi Rudiger, great job on the photo's!! much easier to compare now!!
        Does'nt the pin on the 57er look like the Souval/S&L type we've been discussing on EK1's? Looks like the same tooling mark near the hinge end too
        Other than that, i too can see similarities between the 57er and both the Deschler and Godet

          Wow, Mike. Seems you got yourself an interesting DKiG ... a mixture of Deschler, S&L, Godet AND Souval elements .
          Is it possible one of these makers bought parts from the other ones and made assembly of them ??? We've all seen the mixture S&L / Souval.
          Could it be there was cooperation between more of these different makers after the war ???



          Wish I had something usefull to add to this thread though ... sorry guys .

            I, too, would love to know one way or the other! One observation is the scrolls on the '1941' banner Godet WW2 wreath, and the 57 here are much more alike than the Deschler WW2 version in that the banner scrolls goes up much higher before it wraps around towarads the back. On the other hand, the 4 rivet style is closer to a Deschler piece, with the solid, larger rivets.

            Hoping Dietrich may jump in here to shed some light on the Deschler connection.

              Something to add to this is, in checking my old book, I noticed there's no ad in there for Godet. Could be they signed on later or maybe sold off some of their parts to another co. like Deschler, or someone else....

                Nope, not a single book, only old catalogues.

                My collecting area is 95% based on wartime EK's.
                And till now I didn't come across a book wich has interesting information for me.

                4% is based on badges and clasps. and I don't want to buy a book for each item.

                The other 1% are new form items. This is a field I am relative very new to and know my knowledge is VERY limited.
                And if Peter finsihes his book, I am going to buy my first militaria book.
                Anyone here that has an idea when Peters book will be approximately ready?

                But I also see advantages for not reading books.
                Everyone who collects that buy the same books, read the same information.
                Also the wrong information.

                  A good example that books can be usefull

                  I also want to add some other thoughts:

                  Certain makers (f.a. Deumer) wich are know to have made a huge range new form items.
                  And till now Deumer is not linked to any DK variant (as far as I know).

                  On the other hand I read a lot that Godet is a possible maker.
                  But as far as I know Godet didn't make other new form items.

                  With all the possible cooperations or sold parts/dies, it will be hard to attribute something without proof!

                    FYI - I contacted Dietrich earlier, and he relayed that Godet was out of business after the war so no possibility there; however, if they had leftover dies/parts, then another firm may have ended up with them.
