      That's a later S&L piece.

Thanks, George. How much later? When, about, do you think it was made?

          Hello

I'd agree that, based on the pin and hinge set up that this is a later produced piece. That said, what intriges me is that the photo appears to show signs of rust on the core, and I am given to understand that on the late produced pieces the cores are non magnetic.

Based on the rear setup I'd hazzard a rough guess that this piece would date to around the late 1970's, possibly just into 1980.

          Regards
          David

              Hello

I suspected, from what appeared to be rust in the photo, that the core would be magnetic. Interesting. As far as I am aware, the percived knowledge of these 57 items is that the later produced items used non magnetic cores, and as I said previously, the hardware on the back of it looks like the late set up. Of course, there are always annomolies, and it is possible that a slightly earlier made core ended up being paired up with the late style hinge etc - especially if right at the start of the use of this type of set up.

Would it be possible to a photo sideways on so that the side of the hinge is visible.

              Thanks.

              Regards
              David

Wow! Now we're skirting close to the edge of my technological abilities!
                I'll try, though!

                        Hello

Thanks for the photos. The hinge is what is considered to be the type found on mid through to late production pieces. There's an awful lot that we have yet clarify and learn about these 57 items, but my take on this would be that the core and possibly the frame are decent quality mid produced items, with an early late rear setup, if you follow what I mean. In other words my guess would be this is a cross over piece between the decent mid pieces and the begining of the late production period where quality began going steadily, and quite quickly, downhill.

Just my opinion, though. Anyway, I hope you are having a great Christmas and that you have a happy and prosperous New Year.

                        Regards
                        David
