That is indeed a S&L frame!

      Hello

I agree, the 57 RK posted by William is definately an S&L 57 RK. If my eyes aren't deceiving me I believe that there are the die flaws visible on the 9 O'clock arm in the middle photo, indicating that this frame was made using the (all be it by now, very worn), original wartime die.

      Regards
      David

Ok, so we have 2nd pattern S&L, approximately dated from the 1960s.

Still looks like quality piece, silver frame, magnetic core, matte paint.

What would be reasonable price for such cross?

          Hello

Based on private sales I've seen of the earlier 2nd pattern 57 RKs I'd guess at around €350 - €450, (about £240 - £310GBP). Good 1st pattern ones are changing hands in private sales for around €650 - €750, (about £450 - £520GBP).

          Regards
          David

            David,

            Thank you.

The cross I posted is for sale by a dealer at $1000, no case. Seller claims the cross is attributed.

Based on your quotes it's too expensive.

              Hi,
I would think an attributed cross with a bit of dealers paperwork to back it up would add a bit to the value.
              Cheers

Generally yes, but what kind of proof would the dealer have to provide to convince one that cross indeed belonged to the person in question?

                To me it's all hearsay.

                  Hi,
A clear photo of the guy wearing it would be a good start. After that;anything he can come up with.
Sometimes you have take things on trust and if the dealer has a respected reputation it helps.
                  Cheers

No photo or documents were provided by the seller, just his word.

William, I wouldn't put any stock either into the attributed part for the RK unless there were some additional documentation to back it up.

As far as being too expensive goes, the prices is within the range of what 1st patterns are going for as 700 E is over a $1000 USD today.
