      Hello

Now that really is cheap !! $490 USD at todays exchange rate is about £235GBP. That isn't a bargain - that's an absolute steal

I see what you mean about the frame. It appears to be 'flawing' quite heavily, although some of this may be photographic 'artifacts'. I wonder if this how we ended up with the unflawed 2nd frame? But why change the core? Does anyone know, or have any working theories on how and why the 2nd pattern 57 RKs from S&L came into being? The frame you could surmise as being due to the final deterioration of the original wartime die, but the core? And does anyone have any approximation as to when the change occured, e.g. 1966, 1970, 1975 or when?

      Regards
      David

          Hello

Where was that one? If it was a proper 1st pattern, or even an early 2nd pattern with magnetic core, that's an absolute give away !!

          Regards
          David

Well, vonStubben and I could probably write a book about what went wrong last night with this one. Chuck had computer problems and couldn't get in another bid on it, and I was waiting to pounce, when the in-laws unexpectantly dropped by, and after politely listening to my fil complain about his bunion, I finally couldn't take it any longer, I was watching the clock, and finally I semi-blew him off and ran back to get on the computer, and the auction was over. I just about puked on the keyboard. This was a really good chance, totally blown, to land this nice early first pattern 57 RK. I'm still sick about it. You just never know when a good deal will come along, and this was one of them.

Can you post the auction listing for fun so the rest of us can also kick ourselves for missing it?

Well, that happened to me before too.

What I can say to make you feel better - if you were to bid on the cross - you would not get it for $420. Most likely the price would have been driven up between you and the person who won it last night. My guess is it would have closes somewhere between $700 to $1000.

I am sure there will be another one for you to buy.

                  William

oh man, oh man, I know how that feels.

I lost once or twice like that.

I hope what New Wordl says will be true for you and I. (and the others too )

Looking hard for a nice early KC 57. Please let me know if any of you have one for sale.

                    Edgar
