    My only 1957 RK - O.K. ?

This is the only ยด57 piece in my collection. I know so very little about these pieces that I was wondering whether it is o.k., crap or else? The loop is certainly replaced, but the cross is quite nicely executed and came along with the customized ribbon.

A very nice early 1957 cross by Otto Schikle(?), the ribbon looks nice as well, could be a piece of original pre 1945 ribbon.....

Thanks a lot for the good comments. I am a little relieved, since I had some doubts somehow.

I have seen several nice and early oakleaves/OL+swords in other threads. I never see those only any dealer sites I know. Only the very late ugly once. Where could I get a nice early set of ยด57 OL/OL+swords?

              Can anyone help me?

                Hello

A very nice, desireable and rare 57 RK using Otto Schickle frames.

                Regards
                David

...and the typical Schickle-1813 still on reverse. I am not shure, that the loop is replaced. All 1957-loops on my Knights Crosses are slightly different and not to compare with wartime loops. They all look a little like "bend by hand" and are made from thinner wire, about 1,3mm in diameter. So yours could be the original one, sold with this nice cross.
To get nice oaks and swords from this period you need time and patience, they are rare.

                  Best regards

Well, thanks I really did not know that I had something rather special there in my small medal collection. I have been a document collector rather in past years, but shifting into medals and badges lately.

Just so I get it right: Did Otto Schickle use wartime frames on the re-strikes and can we say when the piece was produced approx.?

Not only original, but a wonderful piece.

                            Hello

All collectors are quite entitled to their opinions on different medals and awards, and if you don't like the 57 pieces, then that's fine. But regardless of this, whether you like them or not, they are a part of the history of the 20th century, part of the family of awards that they are based on, (as in the RK shown here is part of the Iron Cross / RK family), and as such are collectible in their own right. The early ones, such as the RK here are of very high quality, using left over wartime parts or original dies. Nothing wrong with them what so ever. I concede that the much later produced items, done more or less purely for the collectors market are however pretty crap.

Oh, a final point of note is that many former WW2 veterans wore their 57 pieces with pride, both inside and outside of the Bunderswher. Whilst not their original awarded items, none the less they still represented awards won through hard combat. These veterans certainly didn't seem to think that they were crap !!

                            Regards
                            David

                              @David:

I agree to 100%. But someone who makes such a short and provocating statement like

Depends on what you mean by crap. IMO ALL 1957 versions are crap!

does not want to discuss it or to learn about ohter opinions.

So please excuse my statement - it is not the right place for such things.

                              Regards
