    Looking for an opinion on this ost medal. I am guessing very recent construction. Let me know what you think.

      Judging by the scans / photos I would agree with your assesment that this is a later produced piece.

        Thank you for your input. The piece arrived today. It is heavy compared to a war issued ost medal and the quality of the piece overall, is seriously lacking. Again thanks.

          That is one, (there are others), of the indicators of the later made pieces - the overall lack of quality. The early versions are of a good quality, often not much different to their wartime counterparts. Unlike some of the 57 pieces, early versions of this award are not that difficult to come by, and if you are collecting the 57 series then it's worth tracking one down.
