My first 1957 RK - what do you think?

Hello,

this is my first 1957 Knight's Cross. I think it's a later S&L. It's quite beaten up, but the detail of ancorns are good, it's three piece but non-magnetic. The ribbon does not glow under black light. What do you think???

the reverse... the color is NOT that yellow, the rim is much more silver (damn artificial light)....

As you say, slightly worn, but it looks a like a good S&L made, later 2nd pattern 57 RK to me.

and I bought it despite your advice It can be abit artificially worn, but the overall appearance is good for me and the ribbon is surely worn too (it's not seen on the pics, but there is a worn spot on the ribbon just below the point of the clip). It's surely not sandblasted. I would also rather buy an early piece, but I cannot afford one

As I said in my post about this item, I thought it was either a later 2nd pattern from S&L or perhaps one of the ones from the UK replica seller. My main point was that I didn't believe the story that went with it, and to judge the cross for what it is, and not pay a premium price because of an alledged story.

With the pictures now provided, as I have said, I believe this to be an S&L produced piece. A later 57 RK, but in my opinion, a genuine one.

nice to hear good news ... At least it's original, although late one. I didn't pay for the story, just for the cross (I hope... ) and I'm neither sure if the cross really belonged to major Knabe. His picture is postwar copy, but real photograph and with real felt-tip pen signature. Original Knabe's? Who knows!

I think its a late1970,s S&L that looks like it came from a loft or shed.They are usually found in much better condition than that.
I hope you didnt pay too much for it.
