    General John Pershing Signed Group

    Good day,

I'd like to share a recent pickup. It is letter signed by General John Pershing. The content of the correspondence is nothing extraordinary, but the signature is nice. Under magnification, it appears to be a proper ink signature and not a printed or stamped autograph. In researching signed Pershing items for comparison, I found it interesting that he often closes his messages with the phrase "believe me."

In this instance, he says "With best wishes, believe me," "Sincerely yours"

    Other examples include phrases like:

    "Very sincerely yours, believe me."
"With kindest regards, believe me." "Sincerely yours"
    "Always sincerely yours, believe me."
"With cordial regards, I remain yours, believe me."

Anyway, something to note for the future perhaps.

This group was also framed along with one of the first design or prototype Victory Medals. I've also heard these called "Peace Medals." Whether they were ever officially issued or stand as a sort of commemorative medal, I do not know, but I do not think they are as often encountered as the standard Victory Medal with which we are all familiar.

    Regards,

    Z
