    Japanese Armband Translation needed

I had an armband come in a small group the other day.

Any help with the translation would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Armband translates to Nagasaki. No idea who used it or when

Is the paint on the helmet refinish or original?

        Hi Jareth,
Thanks for the information. My guess is the armband was something civil.

        Hi Oldhonda,
The helmet paint looks good to me. I can get some better shots tomorrow.

As promised, a couple more shots of the helmet. This thing had about a half cup of mouse poop in it when I got it!

A couple more of the armband for good measure.

Please forgive my ignorance, why are the characters reversed on the armband?

                Fair question!

Rule of thumb when horizontally written:
right to left = pre-1945 崎長

left to right = post-1945 長崎

Of course this is only a rule of thumb as there are examples of pre-1945 "backwards" writing.
