    Two Japanese bayonets

Good Evening Mr. & Mrs. America and all the ships at sea!

You guys are the Japanese collectors, not me. You know more about this stuff than I do.
These are two late war bayonets I picked up today.
The one with the metal scabbard is missing a set screw and the blade fuller or runners, right?
Anything special about the bamboo one??

Thanx, ahead of the post mortem!
    Tim

Both appear to be pretty standard-fare late war, non-fullered types, the one w/ the wooden scabbard appears to be missing its string wrap on the sheath, but looks otherwise decent. The other one, "may" have had its original sheath swapped out w/ what almost appears to be the thin steel scabbard from a "training" type....Both seem to be decent pieces, i.m.o.

I forgot to ask. What kind of price should I put on these to move 'em on the Stand?

To me, it seems like each bayonet belongs in the opposite scabbard. I.E. the square pommel is really late and so is the bamboo scabbard, the birdshead pommel not as late.

The bayonet marked with the arrow M logo (Matsu****a) is in its correct scabbard. And yes it's actually bamboo. Most late Matsu****a scabbards are wood, but some, like yours are bamboo. The missing wraps were steel/iron wire, notice the dark stains where they were.

The other bayonets scabbard does look to be a mismatched trainer bayonet scabbard. Although that maker furnished a number of different metal scabbards with their bayonets, so tough call......
