        Hi Brutus,
Appears to be the date Bob Coleman was expecting on this other side. I see October (8th month).

The date reads Chokyo ni nen hachi gatsu hi. That translates to the second year of Chokyo(1488) eighth month(August). The blade should be submitted to the NBTHK of authentication. If genuine, a nice blade from the late Bizen period. It always helps when everything is posted the first time around.

Thank you Bob for the full translation, just realize I mistaken October with August while reading correctly 8th month. For thoose who may wonder I was not totally drunk or high on whatever. And yes there are 12 months a year in France too! I think I should read my post twice more often before posting.

Congratulations to Brutus for this nice find anyway!
Missing the "edit" button now more than ever,

Help with reading my sword info please!

Hey guys! need some help here with reading my sword....

so far I have gotten that the top two charaters read that the sword came from "noshu" Provence or what is was commonly known as the "MINO" Provence.

now the rest has me on a road block...

I think the last two read "san" "U" as the maker ?????

                            not sure...

                            would greatly appreciate the help!
                            Thanks..

A little history on the sword.. my grandfather brought it back from Japan in WW2
