Very late war caps are hard to discern whether officer or civilian. At wars end most male civilians were wearing similar style caps

The star badge looks just like a reputedly period EM one I brought from a reputable dealer a couple of years back, I think they still have a few.

The cap is probably civilian or para-military, that liner makes me think so anyway. Officers had their caps taylor made and the liners are usually a better material. This style is common in civilian caps.

I cannot say for sure but I'm not enthusiastic. Maybe someone else knows better?

              Hello Loko,
Jareth, Gunto and Rod raised some good questions about both caps. This one looks to be a civilian one with star added post war. The construction is very rude assembly of mismatching materials, incorrect plain chinstrap buttons. I would have been disapointed to pay a taylor for this job.

Wait for a textbook example or go for the other cap if you can't wait.
              Cheers,
              Mathieu.
