WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Fur-lined Cold Weather Cap

    Hi,

Please, is there any possibility of a colleague can help me check what is written on the label of this cap?

Pic 3, medium size , chu kanji in the circle.

Might help if there was a flat pic of the label. Usually 2 large ink stamps not sewn labels, these are pretty unconventional. Hard to say what's happening here.

The second tag appears to be a repair tag from the Hokkaido depot of the post war self defense force. Doesn't the blue date stamp say Showa 34(1959)? That also explains the use of felt pen for the writing.

Thanks for the additional pics Mooyman, much better!

I think Nick's right about this being Showa 34, pretty hard to make out... and that's the top tag. If it's a repair date this may be an earlier item. First time seeing an early post war example for me, they must have passed them around quite a bit if this one is a proxy.

BTW, the cloth straps coming out the ear flaps belong inside the cap, they are the chinstrap for when the ear flaps are raised, just saying.

First for me as well. Never seen sewn in tags on a WW2 army winter cap. Always set of ink stamps. Then there's the insignia . Neat to see a post war example!
