    Nice belt Staldion!

There's the Iai frog Guy mentioned earlier. Original owner was likely a skilled swordsman. As for the small pouch... love to see what it contained. Maybe that's the answer Geoff is after.

    Regards, Rod

        Hello Rod, thank you!
Right, as you can see the frog for the sword is bigger than the other one, there is just the place for a gunto to fit. If the pouch was custom maybe they were free to used it the way they wanted.

Hi Geoff, my pleasure, I think I have enjoyed all of your topics, nice pick up every time. Have you checked the dog-tag option? Would it fit? It's slim, light, it's shape help him to stay in place and you can fix it to the belt in many ways.

I might have an answer about my belt when I saw this picture, the shape of the buckle is very close to the print in the leather of the belt. Problem is I don't see any sense to keep the hanger like this. I don't even know if it would go through the pouch without tearing it appart. But maybe there was some kind of extra D ring sewn to the belt under the leather. Removed at some time and converted to a pouch in sewing the bottom of the leather.

Have a look on this picture and feel free to share what you think about theese opinions.

Well,my new pocket knife came in today so I'll start with a few photos to break things up a little.Still trying to find out if black was an issue color as well as green ??? After thinking about Staldions post earlier mentioning the imprint in the pouch that seemed to indicate a hanger clip, I wondered if this was a way to tuck a hanger out of the way so it didn't dangle like a tail when the sword wasn't being worn.I really don't know. After trying the pocket knife in the pouch on my belt (even though it fits nicely)I am still inclined to lean toward the sharpening stone or perhaps an amulet or shrine token just because of the inside dimensions and shape of the pouch.I am sure there were many variations of accessory items added to belts as I have seen small bags/pouches attached to belts in the past.I suppose the owner could determine what he needed to carry and as long as it wasn't over the top and fit in with the overall appearance of the rig it was probably not frowned upon. Even though they may not have been standardized or regulation, these modifications were most likely concealed under a tunic and probably overlooked.Does anyone know specifically what the two leather loops on the rear of the belt were for?
It will be fun to see what other evidence appears in the future. Thanks again for all the input! Geoff

None more scarce than another in my opinion.

For all the speculation he could have just as easily been an administrative weenie and carried his hanko there!

Nope! Not nearly sexy enough. I prefer to think that it contained the ultra scarce Baby Nambu Mini!
