      Hi Howard-san,

      Nice Hinomaru Yosegaki Flag there.

Like the M35 Filed Police and the M40 Lufty lids as well.

Are they both SD' s ??

      Thank you for sharing.

      Cheers!

            Hello Howard,

That is indeed a fine flag.

I hope Guy sees it. I would be interested to know the translation of the kanji running diagonally upward from the lower right corner. My eye went to them almost immediately.

            Regards,
            Stu

              Per your request, Stu:

              Top, below the slogan:
              澤田逸平君
              Sawada Ippei-kun

              Right corner diagonal:
              川島忠男 - 深沢 忠雄
              Kawashima Tadao - Fukusawa Tadao

I didn't know if you meant that line, or the one below it. Just in case:

                毛利 博
                Mori Hiroshi

                別れ次で今日よき日や
Wakare sugi de kyou yoki hi ya.
Other than saying farewell, today is a great day.
[I'm only about 70% satisfied with my translation, though ....]

                国の*
                Kuni no ai
                Love of country
[*愛 I can't clearly see this kanji and not being a native-speaker, this is my uneducated best-guess.]

                  Hi Guy-san,

                  That would be

國乃為 (Kuni no Tame) - For the Country.

                  Regards,
                  Taka

                    Thanks for the comments.

Storyline goes that this was a bring back from Okinawa.

Seen many of these in the last 20+ years, but this is the first I have owned with the white leather reinforced corners. Most always have the gold foil.

                    Cheers,
                    Howard

Its a nice flag, and you are right about the corner material. The white leather is a less often seen material.
