I bought this as it was said it was a vet pick up. It seems very old but there I dont think there is anyway the blade is handmade and there is no maker mark. The leather appears to have blood damage on it? My question is, does it appear to be from WWII. If it is, Im guessing it would be a latewar version as it seems put together quickly. Thanks for the help

Not of any standard IJA mounting I have ever seen. Either a period fake known as an "island sword" or a poorly made replacement sword made in Southeast Asia. The second is more likely as it appears to have a period IJA officer's tsuba.
I have encountered a few of these that are similar in the hands of veterans. All had veteran provenance to China
