I acquired these 2 recently and don't know much about them .Any information would be very appreciated ! The first one is approximately 27 x 37 w/writing and has a smooth texture and the second one is 19 x 26 with issues , and a slightly rough texture . Both passed black light .

Your flag with writing looks to be occupation era and GI focused. A couple of names like John and Frank as well as several locations: Korea, Japan, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, America.

Nah, Tom said it all. Made for a GI post-war.

            +1

Still collectible though, in the same way a Tojo flag would be, by someone wishing to round out their collection.

            Regards,
            Stu

The second flag is hard to nail down time wise. It has the paper corner tabs which point to an older flag, but exact age I could not say. It is still the national flag of Japan, so dating is hard. Occupation flags, although interesting, do not command a large following of collectors, although this may change as time goes on.

Thank you very much for your input Tom ! I got them fairly cheap and hoped were genuine but I think the small flag without writing is good just has a lot more age to it . Again thanks !
