Dec. 7th 1941, 2 flags signed on the first day of WW2 for the United Staes

Hello everyone, I have posted both of these flags before and wanted to post them fir anyone who missed the original threads. Since today is December 7th, I felt today was a appropriate day to share them again.

The first flag and original thread:
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=kao+flag
the flag has symetrical shrapnel damage and blood staining. It was also a US serviceman souvineer.

would the attack on pearl harbor been on Dec 7th in Japan? They are on the other side of the international date line so would it have been Dec 8th local date when the attack took place?

No, the Japanese date is 8 December. Japan is 19 hours ahead of Hawaii time.

Correct, these two flags were dedicated on Dec 8th, showa 16 (1941) Japanese time, or our December 7th, 1941. Thanks for the comments

The first one seems to have several typical "fold matching" shrapnel holes.

If the brown spot is blood you can even say how it was folded when the soldier was KIA.
Like if one side have been in contact with whatever did the spot.

Both flag are very nice anyway.

Yes you are correct Jean, you can actually fold the flag back into the fold it was in when it was damaged. You can clearly see multiple areas of small shrapnel entries.
