    IJN reservist badge? WW2? legit?

I picked this up and had a dealer friend tell me he doesn't think it's WW2 vintage.
    Opinions?

I really need to gain some knowledge on the Japanese stuff... I feel like I'm going in blind.

Thanks for any input on this one,
    -Brian

      thank you.

What exactly is this badge for? A reservist sailor or for some other purpose?
Looking online I cannot find another like it for comparison or explanation.

I believe he thought it was not original because it came in a modern wooden box (which I knew the box wasn't original).

I appreciate your input... I was about to put it in my junk drawer, but I knew checking here first was best.

edit: I think I found some info on it, but still don't understand. Was this for veteran soldiers?

Its a veteran badge for army and navy. Very common.

Nice, quite rare marked reservist badge.
            So-called "large badge".
This one was made by Suzuki workshop somewhere between 1910 and early 30s.

            Cheers,
            Nick

These came in a "modern fitted wooden box" when new.... you should save it and post that...it might be the original plain looking wood box.

                Thanks for the info, guys!

I will snap a pic when I get home of the box.
It looked brand new to me but I guess it could be the original?
                The box is unmarked.
