It' s a Japanese Army Type 97 Altimeter.

高度計 (Koudo-kei) - Altimeter.

九七式 (Kyuu-nana Siki) - Type 97

米 (Me-toru) - Meter

Taka-san,

Thanks for your invaluable [計り知れない] input, as always. For most non-Japanese and "modern" Japanese, "si" is now Romanized as "shi".
式 = shiki in today's romanization

Everybody~ Taka-san is not wrong, he's just using an older style romanization; I was taught Japanese using that style and it drove me crazy! For example, "ti" = chi; "tu" = tsu; "si"= shi".

I'm used to seeing it both ways. Some Japanese still write "si" as it seems more logical for them (sa si su se so = さ し す せ そ), but it's usually "shi" in more formal/professional romanization.
