General's Cap?

Was just curious if this was actually a general's cap or something else (possibly a put together). Not my area of interest, but was the first time I had seen one of these on fleebay...

First, The star looks wrong, I believe the metallic band has been added. The chinstrap is of a style I've never seen before. You would expect a general to buy a private purchase cap with a better quality lining like silk. I don't believe you will see this kind of ink stamp marking in a generals cap. I agree, this has a put together look to it. We need Jareths opinion on this. As always, I am open to correction but This looks wrong.

I agree. I believe the stamp is a Taisho issue stamp with the added Metallic band and odd looking star. Definitely a put together cap. Shame as it would have been a nice.

Other than the dress caps they would have just been private purchase caps as opposed to the issue ones. I’m never 100% sure what’s harder to find.

The gold band is a cuff band for a US General's or Admiral's jacket, the gold chin strap has metal grommets which is typical for a USN officer's visor hat.
