A mate of mine was metal detecting in australia recently and found this about a foot down encased in clay out in the bush, the area had a very high transient population due to gold mining.
It looks like an old belt buckle clasp, but am not 100% sure. The crysanthemum throws me off abit though. Its heavy like lead, but is more than likely copper or brass.
What do you gentlemen think?
