Complete matched summer white Officer's uniform?

I know its a bit frowned up on to link to ebay auctions, but I thought I'd make an exception in case this might help other beginners like myself in the future. Before becoming a member of this forum, and educated some by the forum "Godfathers", I would have been all over this. In fact, this is an item high on my want list.

-Insert sarcasm here- Can you believe this totally original matched set even has a family photo tucked away in one of the pockets and the uniformed is named? Original ribbon bars? Its all one group belonging to the same officer. Strange though, how that one tiny flaw on the purple liner is where the owner's name is usually written. Even though I know cupman3 sells authentic items, its strange how often he has original groupings, right down to magazines and cigarettes and family photos that can be found on ebay for a few bucks.

The "matched" winter Warrant Officer's tunic and visor I purchased from him has the visor named, but where the tunic should have a name, well, it just happens to be missing. I am happy with the set, I did get a good deal on it , but even though it was sold to me as a matched set, I wouldn't sell it that way if I ever did decide to let it go.

I might e-mail Bob and ask him how many pin holes are in the area of the ribbon bar. I can see only one in the image. Although I might be wrong, I'd assume it would have been removed and put back on repeatedly, and although an Officer would be careful about where its pinned, I'd say odds are there SHOULD be one than one pin hole indicating its not been applied just once. But that is just pure speculation on my part. A good officer would be careful about it I guess. And I would like to say I'm happy with everything I have ever purchased from cupman3, and will likely buy from again at some point. If he reads this, I think he understands you need to have 100% proof items are matched or letter from the family, a family CoA if you will. Not saying they are matched without 100% proof should be avoided. It would be respected anyway. Even mis-matched the set he has on there now would be nice to have, but I'd bet he has a $600.00 reserve on it. Should sell I'm guessing. Perhaps even funny money like that large and authentic IJN flag recently did.

Perhaps I am wrong but I see nothing wrong w/ linking to ebay or such from here. I have done so and not been handslapped... I think its a good way to open discussion on items. I do not know much about IJN uniforms so I can't comment much on the uniform...

Due to the wide flat pin on the reverse of the WWII Japanese ribbon bars and medal bars I have generally just seen stitched loops in that area. Of course safety pin holes might be present for rank tabs pinned to the breast. I too think it is curious that the hole in the hat liner is the same general location as where the stitched name is often found. Either way you cut it I wouldn't buy from this guy if he had the only piece I needed to fill a hole in my collection. Its clear to me seeing this guy's auctions week after week over the years that to him this is a game and/or more than profit motivates him, e.g., bitterness and malice.

I agree with zachb. Cupman3 is just out to make a buck. I mean you're better off buying the uniform parts separately and stitching them together yourself. You'll save yourself hundreds of dollars. I mean on top of that with the flags. I'm not trying give you grief, I'm a novice myself, but I know that when a guy comes out with crap everyweek, with fake non-native written kanji, miraculously from a "veteran's home" everyweek, with a bad record among veteran collectors, and NO return policy at all, he's someone to avoid completely.

Criminal. Forger. His "original" signed flag creations are done with magic marker. Loves to ink stamp everything, hats, flags etc.... Loves to create "Japanese capture", Japanese signed foreign flags.. He profits well from his creations.

Well, perhaps word is speading. 1 bid for $279.00, reserve not met, re-listed with a $99.00 opening bid. If that were a truly matched set I'm guessing it would be in the $600.00 + area? Even mismatched though it was worth more than $279.00. lol
