Japanese Artillery Shell

Picked this up this morning at my local carboot sale, I'm presuming it's Japanese by its markings, unusual brass diving band, which has what looks like an anchor stamped on it, naval use ?

I don't see any markings that look Japanese

I've discovered that the round is 47mm Hotchkiss, made for the Japanese navy circa 1900, there is a Japanese symbol shown on the base of the case above the letters EOC.
