I'm selling a deceased friend's collection for the family and require identification of this medal and value.

    Thanks.

It is the "China Incident" Medal, with clasp. Instated in 1939 for the "Incident" (war) in China.

That ribbon looks like it has been washed or heavily exposed to light over the years.

In that condition, your talking maybe $10-$20.

Probably the most common Japanese campaign medal seen. Not worth much in this condition, especially with the hook/eye missing. These can be had, near mint in a case for <$40. all the time on eBay.

Might look good as an accessory in a display with a flag or something.

Ribbon is incorrect the ribbon is for the World War I Victory medal.

The ribbon is also wrong. Its from the WW1 Victory medal. Sorry, but it's not worth the trouble of describing all that's wrong with it. Make some boy happy with it,

That's very true, should have looked at the ribbon closer but the medal is pretty bad as it is.

Bernie, here's what it should look like.
