    Unidentified Japanese banner

    Hello
I have an unidentified Japanese item, well at least I think it is Japanese, which I was hoping somebody here could identify. Unfortunately I cannot attach photos but anybody with ideas as to what this item is I can email some pictures. It is a piece of cloth, quite rough weave, about 3 foot long by 1 foot wide. In the middle is a picture of a machine gun with a star above and some writing around it. It is printed rather than hand drawn. It came in the effects of an RAF man who was stationed in Hong Kong immediately after the war. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Thanks

    possibly a souvenir hand towl

It sounds like it could be a Japanese souvenir hand towel. These were owned by many Japanese military personel. Here's a link to an old auction with a navy hand towel. It was misidentified as a flag. The sizes are usually 12 inches by 36 inches or a bit larger.

    Ended auction/Navy towel-"flag":

I have included my email address. I am curious what it looks like. I have some of these with anchor designs, stars, cannons usually with Kanji.
