    Japanese Grenade Cans ?

Has anyone ever seen metal cans used to hold japanese hand grenades? We found a few, ( with grenades in them ) and Japanese writing all over them. They are kind of yellow orange with removable tin lids I will post pics later, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew of these or if they were just Japanese spice containers or some other sort of non-weapons related thing...

    Thanks!

There were metal tins for certain fuses. Be interesting to see your pictures.

        Hmmm.............

        Hello.
I have seen metal artillery fuze cans large enough to fit a type 97 grenade in them. I haven't seen any reference on metal shipping cans for the Type 97, Type 91 or Type 99 grenades. If your cans have labels or printed writing, they will identify the contents. I have seen fuze cans with an orange finish with Black Japanese text. I know for certain that the frangible grenades (Poison gas & smoke,) were issued in metallic cans. The 40mm Type 2 rifle grenade and the type 89 smoke/incendiary grenade were issued in metal cans just to name a few. There are others, I would have to check my manuals. Curious to see the pictures.

              Ok

OK, My ability to read japanese is very limited. I do see some familiar characters- reading left to right "89 type" I also see the Japanese characters for "High angle" and "fuze/fuze cap". I am pretty sure this is the shipping can for the Type 89 Timer fuze. These were used on 75mm AA rounds. Can anybody read more of the paper label text?
