Flag w/ Writing

Hey guys:

I just picked up this flag from the Vet's sister. I've never seen writing like this before. Any input as to what it might refer to or say?

I took two photos because I'm not sure which way it should face!

while the 4 corner characters look sorta correct (but that bottom right with the circle is really off), the other stuff looks like either highly stylized script or really bad scribbles. I'll let a native speaker input, but doesn't exactly look good to me....

Well, it's how I got it from an 81 year old woman today, she didn't fake it, I can assure you of that!

If it is "bad"... maybe it was a done-up souvenir flag sold to GI's on occupation duty? She had just tossed out the "photos of her brother w/ his Army friends" last week!

The 4 characters are stylized, but are done by a Japanese and OK, but the squiggles must have been added by a GI
